Installing Elegant Gnome Pack

There is a detailed installation instruction over at the Gnome-look home page, but for those who prefer to see it visually, here is the typical Make Tech Easier way of installation instruction, coupled with lot of screenshots. Note: The following instructions are based on Ubuntu and Linux mint Open a terminal. Add the Elegant Gnome Pack repository Install Elegant Gnome If you are using Linux mint, use this command instead: Once the installation is completed, go to “Applications -> Accessories -> Elegant GNOME“. Select the first option “Install the pack” and click OK.

It will proceed to install the theme. Next, select the “Configure Nautilus” option and click OK.

In the next window, select the version of Nautilus that you are using. If you have installed Nautilus Elementary previously, select the second option. If not, keep to the default (first option).

Configuring Elegant Gnome for Google Chrome

The theme only include theme package for Firefox. If you are using Google Chrome, download the Elegant Gnome for Google Chrome here. Extract the tar file. You should see three files with the .crx extension in the extracted folder. With Google Chrome running, drag and drop the three files (one at a time) to Google Chrome. You should see a warning popup at the bottom of the Chrome browser, click “Continue”.

That’s it. The last thing that you are going to do is to logout and re-login to your computer. Your desktop transformation is now completed.

Uninstallation

To revert back to the original settings, go to “Applications -> Accessories -> Elegant GNOME“. Select the “Restore to previous settings” option.
