This is how it works: when an app is not in use (hidden behind other windows), App Nap conserves battery life by slowing down the app. Once you start to use the app again, the app instantly goes back to running full speed. Best of all, App Nap also works with Safari tabs – running only the visible tab at full speed. While this can be useful, you may want to disable App Nap on a per-app basis. Here’s how to do that.
Open your Applications folder in Finder.
Right-click the app to be disabled and click on “Get Info.”
In the Info window, under “General” click the box next to “Prevent App Nap.” Note that if an app is locked, you won’t be able to disable App Nap for it.
You can do this for as many apps as you’d like to suit your needs. How are you liking App Nap so far? Image Credit: notemily
