A good way to keep the kids busy is by handing them your phone or tablet so they can watch their favorite YouTube videos. The only problem with this is your kids can easily press the wrong buttons and erase some valuable information.

Lock Touchscreen Capabilities with Touch Lock

The first thing you’ll need to do is install the Touch Lock toddler app on your Android device. When you launch the app for the first time, it will guide you through everything you need to do to get the app up and running. The third screen is when you’ll need to grant usage access to the app. This is necessary for the app to lock your display while your toddler is using your Android device. Tap on “Enable Now” when the app asks you to, and it will take you to your device’s settings menu. Look for Touch Lock in the list of apps and toggle on the permit usage access option. Tap the Back button to go back to the app, and tap on the three vertical dots and choose Settings. Make sure that the “Unlock guide” is disabled because this is what teaches the user how to disable the app.

By default, it will only take two taps to unlock the touchscreen, but by tapping Unlock setting, you can change it to four taps. Once the settings are to your liking, start playing that Sponge Bob Square Pants video, swipe down from the top of your display and tap on the app’s notification. When your kid has had enough of Bob, you just need to double-tap on the semi-transparent app icon on your screen. It’s going to be on the right side. If your toddler is going to be watching a Netflix video, the process is slightly different.

How to Enable the App with NetFlix Videos

With Netflix videos, open the app and choose the movie or show. Before you tap on the Play button, you’ll need to swipe down from the top of your display to enable it and then tap on the play button. The app won’t automatically lock your screen until the video starts playing.

Unlocking the app with Netflix videos works the same way as with YouTube videos. Just double tap, and it will unlock. There is also an option to only lock the Home, Back, and Recent Apps buttons. To lock the buttons just swipe down from the top of your display and tap on the lock with the buttons in the background.

The app will explain that to unlock the buttons you only need to double-press the Home button. Whenever the buttons are pressed, a message appears telling the user that the buttons are locked.

Conclusion

Thanks to this app you can rest assured knowing that your toddler can’t change a thing on your Android device. Just remember to enable the app, or you’ll have to suffer the consequences. Do you think you’ll give the app a try? Drop a comment below.
